Monongalia Co. ranks as the #1 county in the state of West Virginia for underage drinking offenses. MAYSP provides alcohol education programming to underage drinking offenders. MAYSP has a partnership with the WVU Student Assistance Program. Upon completion of the diversion program first time offenders are eligible to get their offense expunged from thier record. It is the responsibility of the offender to make arrangements with the court for expungement! MAYSP has no authority regarding expongement.
The UD Diversion Group consists of:
- One intake meeting
- Two Group sessions (Each group session will last 1 1/2 – 2 hours. You MUST be on time and must stay for the entire group session)
- Community service
- One Exit counseling session
*You will be required to pay the fee for the program at the intake appointment. The fee is 150 (cash) or 160 (credit card).
*We accept cash, credit/debit card, or money orders. We DO NOT accept American Express cards!

You may be required to attend AA meetings in addition to group sessions. This will be determined at your intake meeting. You are NOT required to submit urine for drug testing.
You MUST be here exactly on the hour (or before). If you are late, and the video has already been started, you will not be permitted to stay for that hour. You will need to reschedule a replacement video session.
One video session per day is all that will be scheduled per person (except during summer months), but you may schedule one group and one video on the same day.
If you cannot keep your scheduled video appointment, you MUST call to inform the MAYSP office (number above) at least 24 hours in advance to avoid paying a no/show fee.
MISSED APPOINTMENT FEE: There is a $5 cash fee for every appointment for which you do not show up or give 24 hours cancellation notice. Missed appointment fee must be paid at MAYSP before you can attend your next appointment.
*If the office is closed due to weather or other unforeseeable circumstances, it is your responsibility to call and reschedule your video session as soon as possible.
You must schedule 5 hours of video education and 2 group meetings!
Group sessions are held Monday 4:00pm-5:30pm and Thursday 6:00pm-7:30pm. You may select either Monday or Thursday as your group session day based on your schedule. You are expected to be on time and contribute to discussion in a positive manner.
For out-of-state/town offenders: Please go to the RESOURCES section of this site and download the appropriate forms (highlighted in blue) to complete. Follow the instructions on the out-of-town instruction sheet.
*If the office is closed due to weather or other unforeseeable circumstances, it is your responsibility to call and reschedule your session as soon as possible.
The Morgantown courts require that community service be done at one of the accepted agencies located downtown . Violators are assigned community service at the intake appointment. First offense violators are required to complete 8 hours of community service and second offense violators are required to complete 10 hours. If two charges occur simultaneously the completion requirements include 18 hours of community service.
Once you have completed your community service hours you will call the MAYSP office to inform your hours are complete, at which time we will schedule your exit interview if all other requirements are met. You must bring your community service form with you to that first exit interview.
You are not permitted to change your community service assignment without permission from the MAYSP staff.
